Let's Talk Summer Pairings!

Don’t look now, but that warm summer weather is among us. We are gearing up for Bar-B-Que season, picnics and relaxing on the beach. Whether you’re hosting a rooftop Bar-B-Que or enjoying one in a friend’s backyard, we've got some tips to help you choose the perfect wine to serve or give a s a gift. And don’t worry.. There really is something for every one's tastes when it comes to these warm weather pairings...

Plain and simple, a great go to is sparkling wine. At Let's Talk Wine, we like to start all of our at home wine tastings and corporate team building activities with sparkling wine. Bubbly wine is crisp, refreshing and cleanses the palate the same way beer does. A nice Cava will work perfectly and it won’t break the bank. We love Castellroig Cava Brut and pour it at our tastings regularly. Delicious, refreshing and a great compliment to those sweet and smoky flavors that lend themselves to Bar-B-Que.

If you’re not into bubbles, a nice, bright white wine with a good amount of acidity will impress your guests and friends as well. A Riesling or fresh Sauvignon Blanc. We are fans of Dr. Frank Konstantin's Rieslings from New York. We love to surprise our corporate clients with a crisp dry Riesling. Many are surprised that Riesling does not necessarily equal sweet. We also suggest Aslina's Sauvignon Blanc from South Africa. These wines are perfect for the summer and oh so easy on your wallet.

And for you red wine drinkers, never fear! You can enjoy your red wine. Even when the temperatures are scorching! We've said it before and we will say it again. CHILL YOUR RED WINES. That’s right. We said it. Chilling your light to medium bodied red wines is a great way to enjoy them in the warm weather without losing flavor or texture. Pinot Noir is a great choice. They tend to have nice acid levels making them very refreshing , not to mention food friendly. Young Riojas are also a good option. On a warm summer day, we love to add a glass of red wine to the mix. They generally have nice flavors of black pepper and smoke as well as dark fruit notes. Perfect for meat dishes that are cooked outside. Pop these wines in the refrigerator for about 15 minutes and enjoy!

A great way to enjoy a variety of wine with no commitment is to enjoy a wine tasting. Let's Talk Wine's All Inclusive wine tasting brings the wine and everything you need to learn the wine you love.

Cheers!
